Eyre Peninsula – Whyalla to Cowell

Lots of sightseeing to do for this stretch. Once making our way out of the free camp at Shingles Beach, we headed to Whyalla. It is the third largest city in South Australia.

First stop was the lookout, and what a view over a pretty town. The beach and the country all so close together. The lookout had hundreds, if not thousands, of dragonflies. They were everywhere. Driving down to the beach, we stopped for a walk and let the dogs have a play in the water. Great facilities at Whyalla, next time we come through, I think we will stop for a few days.

Pulling into Cowell, there is more Silo Art, and a beautiful little seaside town. They are doing plenty of upgrades to the beachfront location, with water slides and a play park. We decided to stay the night at the Cowell RV Park, on the edge of town for just $10 per night.
