Lakes Entrance

Lakes Entrance

Heading to Lakes Entrance, we took the scenic route through Seaspray and Golden Beach. There are plenty of free and donation camps right along the beach, and certainly somewhere we would return to. Back to main highway we passed through Sale and onto Bairnsdale. We stopped here for lunch, right by the Mitchell River. From here it was only 30mins onto Lakes Entrance. We were surprised by just how many Caravan Parks there are in the area. We had a lovely spot at Eastern Beach at the Holiday Park.

Unfortunately we had quite a bit of rain while at Lakes Entrance, and couldn’t spend as much time at the beach as we would have liked. The beach was only 5 mins walk away, and the dogs loved spending time there a few afternoons. It was also only 2kms back to the main town, and a walk we were hoping to do if the rain had stayed away.

We spent a day driving around the local area, visiting lookouts, beaches and breweries. We also took a drive up to the snow fields as they had some snow the week before. It took about 2.5 hours to make it up to Dinner Plain & Hotham. Dinner Plain is very dog friendly, Hotham is the opposite. We stopped for lunch at Omeo. Afternoon Tea was at the Swift’s Creek Bakery, and it is worth a stop. Literally a hole in the wall, the treats were delicious.
